planning and doing

I’ll admit that I love all the books about organization. I’ll watch YouTube videos on Kanban boards. I’ll dream about stickers and planners and notecards. I’ll write up to do lists and more to do lists.

But then I’ll realize that I’m spending time that I could be doing the things I want to be doing … with too much planning.

And so, like everything, there is a balance.

It’s helpful for me to be organized and know what it is I have to do. It staves off overwhelm. It helps me to feel accomplished.

Actually doing the work, though. That’s where the magic is. And why I prioritize getting my word count done first before anything else.

This is more of a note to me to remind myself to do the thing I want to do rather than read about some other person planning to do the things they want to do. While those things can be helpful and excellent, like everything, moderation is key.
